Does KFC Use Egg in Their Breading?

The classic KFC recipe does use dried egg powder in the breading mixture, but since we are making these at home, we can use regular eggs.

You'll only need a few simple ingredients to make this easy recipe. Let's round them up and get started!

Simple Ingredients

Place chicken in a bowl and pour the buttermilk and beaten eggs over it. Then cover and refrigerate.

Marinate the Chicken

Mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, basil, oregano, celery salt, dried mustard, ground ginger, salt, and black pepper.

Season the Flour

Remove chicken from the egg-buttermilk mixture and coat evenly with the seasoned flour on both sides.

Bread the Chicken

Heat oil to 350°F in a deep skillet or fryer, and fry the chicken for 5-6 minutes per side.

Fry the Chicken

Spread spicy mayo on the bottom half of each bun. Top with pickles, a fried chicken breast, and the top bun.

Assemble the Sandwich

Serve your copycat KFC chicken sandwiches immediately while they’re still warm.

Enjoy!
