Ingredients

For the Brownies:

  • 16.3 ounces box brownie mix
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs

For the Pecan Pie Filling:

  • cup honey
  • cup packed light brown sugar
  • cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla paste
  • 2 cups pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the brownie mix box. Typically, it's around 350°F.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Whisk the ingredients until well combined, ensuring there are no lumps in the batter.
  • Grease a baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper, leaving the edges of the paper over the edge of the pan so that the brownies can be removed more easily after baking. Pour the brownie batter into it, spreading it out evenly.
  • Follow the baking instructions on the brownie mix box, and bake it for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • While the brownies are baking, prepare the pecan pie filling. Whisk together the honey, brown sugar, and unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir the mixture continuously until the sugar is dissolved and the butter is melted.
  • In a separate bowl whisk together the room temperature eggs and vanilla.
  • Allow the butter mixture to cool slightly, then add the egg and vanilla mixture to the butter mixture and whisk well.
  • Gently fold in the pecans until they are evenly coated with the pecan pie filling.
  • Remove the brownies from the oven and pour the prepared pecan pie filling over the baked brownies, spreading it out evenly.
  • Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the pecan pie filling is set.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the Pecan Pie Brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares or bars.
