An Easy Grilled Pork Chops Recipe

These grilled pork chops are super easy to make. All you have to do is brush them with olive oil, rub with a perfectly awesome seasoning, and smoke them on the grill. They’re an explosion of flavor and juicy goodness!

You can even make these pork chops up to a day in advance, if you’d like. The longer they sit in the marinade, the juicier and tastier they’ll get!

Recipe Ingredients

This dish comes together with just a handful of pantry staples, so you might not even need to stop at the supermarket. Here’s what you’ll need to make the best grilled pork chops:

  • Bone-In Pork Chops: Use bone-in pork chops for the most tender and flavorful result.
  • Olive Oil
  • Brown Sugar
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Paprika: You can use either smoked or sweet paprika to achieve your desired flavor.
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder

How to Grill Pork Chops

  1. Dry Your Pork Chops: Pat dry pork chops with paper towels.
  2. Brush with Oil: Brush pork chops with olive oil and set aside.
  3. Make the Rub: In a small mixing bowl, stir together brown sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder.
  4. Rub the dry mix all over the pork chops. Transfer them to a resealable bag or mixing bowl; cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, and up to 24 hours.
  5. Heat Grill: Preheat an outdoor grill to 400˚F – about medium to medium-high. Remove pork chops from the bag.
  6. Cook: Transfer pork chops to the preheated grill and grill, covered, for 7 to 10 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 145˚F. Do not overcook. Please use an instant read thermometer to check for doneness.
  7. Remove from Heat: Remove pork chops from the grill and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

How Long to Grill Pork Chops

For this recipe, it should take 7-10 minutes per side to grill the pork chops. You’ll know they’re done when an internal read thermometer registers at 145˚F. Don’t let the internal temperature get much higher, or your pork chops will be dry.

If you’re using thicker pork chops, they may need a few extra minutes on the grill. It’s important to keep track of their internal temperature so your pork chops come out as juicy and tender as possible!

How to Tell when Pork Chops are Done

Your pork chops will pick up a beautiful char as they finish cooking, but the best way to tell when they’re done is to check their internal temperature. 145˚F is the sweet spot for perfect grilled pork chops.

Tips for the Best Grilled Pork Chops

  • Don’t Overcook: Nobody likes a tough and dry bite of meat, so make sure you don’t leave your pork chops on the grill for too long.
  • Let Cool Before Serving: Your pork chops will be very hot when you take them off the grill, so don’t try to eat them right away. You should let them cool down for at least 5 minutes. This also helps the flavors intensify!
  • Marinate for 2 Hours Minimum: For flavor purposes, marinate your pork chops for at least 2 hours before grilling. You can let them soak for up to a day to get the ultimate flavor and juiciness.

Serving Suggestions

How to Store and Reheat Leftovers

  • Refrigerate any leftover pork chops in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
  • To reheat them, preheat your oven to 350°F and add a few tablespoons of broth or water to a pan. Place thawed pork chops in the pan and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until hot.

Can you do these pork chops in the oven instead of grilling?

Hi! Yes, you definitely can prepare them in the oven. I would first brown the pork chops for about 2 minutes per side in an oiled oven-safe skillet; then, add a tablespoon of butter to the skillet and pop them in a 400˚F-degree oven to finish cooking. Pork chops should be cooked for about 15 minutes, or until internal temperature of pork chops reaches 160˚F.

Turned out great!! It’s nice to have an alternative type of marinade/rub, because my family can’t have soy which seems to be in every single marinade recipe. We loved this!!

I really don’t like pork chops! have made them once and the meal wasn’t very good, however we made these for my parents last night. They were fantastic! I’ll give my husband most of the credit for grilling- but these were the best I had ever tasted. My Italian mother (the world’s toughest food critic) even loved them! I used half sweet and half smoked paprika to make it an interesting flavor. Great recipe and thank you for posting this!
