Done in less than 10 minutes, these garlic butter mushrooms are the easiest and most flavorful side dish or topping you can make, ever. Smothered in butter and topped with fresh parsley, these are sure to enhance any simple weeknight meal.
An Easy Mushrooms Recipe
Garlic butter mushrooms will make any dinner better. Whether they’re served as a side dish or on top of your entree, these garlic butter mushrooms will not disappoint. Seriously – 5 out of 5 would recommend to a friend. 🌟This recipe is a must for any serious mushroom lover.
Mushrooms have such a comforting, rich, earthy flavor that enhances so many different meat entrees. Loaded with creamy butter, garlic, and fresh parsley, they give the impression that you’ve slaved over the stove all day – but they really only take 10 minutes! Your family will feel like they’re dining at a high-end steakhouse when you put these bad boys on their plate.
Ingredients for Garlic Butter Mushrooms
- button mushrooms
- butter
- garlic
- Salt and fresh ground pepper
- fresh parsley
How to Make Garlic Butter Mushrooms
Melt the butter in a large 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and cook them for 5 to 7 minutes, or until they’re golden brown. Stir in the garlic and season the mushrooms with salt and pepper.
Continue to cook for 30 seconds. Add 1 tablespoon of parsley and stir around. Remove the skillet from heat.
Taste a mushroom to test for seasonings and adjust accordingly. Garnish the mushrooms with the remaining parsley and serve.
The Secret to Perfectly Browned Mushrooms
The secret to loading these garlic butter mushrooms with flavor is browning them, just right. It’s the browning process that really adds the delicious flavor to these little guys.
Here’s how I do it:
- First, I find mushrooms that are all similar in size to ensure even cooking
- I rinse my mushrooms to ensure they don’t get too slimy.
- Make sure to cook over medium heat. This will ensure the butter doesn’t burn and instead develops a super flavorful nuttiness.
- Here’s the big one – DO NOT stir for 4 minutes. Resist the urge. Back away. If you over stir or flip them, they won’t brown right.
Serving Suggestions
Mushrooms can be served on the side of almost any meat. I especially like them with steak, pork chops, or on top of a sauteed chicken breast.
They are also super yummy served on top of a roast beef or a burger loaded with Swiss cheese! Or for a vegetarian idea, serve them on top of polenta!
For something different, consider serving them as an addition to your charcuterie board.
How to Store and Reheat Leftovers
These little bites of heaven can easily be stored and reheated. Simply let them cool and place them in an airtight container in your fridge. They will stay nice for about 3 to 5 days.
To reheat your leftover garlic butter mushrooms, saute’ them in a skillet over low heat. If they need a little liquid, I recommend adding a tablespoon of broth – beef or chicken depending on what you’ll be serving them with.
